An English seaweed marquetry longcase clock by Dav. Ormond, Westminster, early 18th century, with a month-going three-train quarter-chiming movement.  The chime train with six hammers striking six bells, and the strike train strikes one bell on the hour.  The movement has six ringed pillars.  
 
Height 98"; 12" square dial.
 
Condition:  The central, round portion of the dial (containing the winding holes) is a later addition; an indication that the whole dial and movement are not likely original to each other.  The rest of the dial and movement are from the same period.  The hood door is off of it's hinges, with some corresponding damage to the hinge area.
 
Note on the maker:
 
In The Connoisseur, volume 48 (May–August 1917). In an article discussing a collection of English furniture and clocks, the author describes a tall-case clock whose dial is signed:
“Dav. Ormond, Westminster”.  The article calls Ormond “a notable clockmaker of the first part of the eighteenth century.” It also specifically says that the clock was a chime movement.
