A French Gothic dressoir / credence / cupboard) in walnut, part late 15th century or early 16th century. Fine Gothic tracery carving.
Width 62.5", height 64.5", depth 26.5".
Condition: The top section mostly circa 1500, including the frame, the tracery panels, the doors, metalware, the back, and the bottom. The upper and lower horizontal moldings and the very top board are later restorations. The lower section has been reconstructed from a combination of early and later parts. The drawer fronts are original (with some small repairs), matching the upper section. Extensive worming to the exterior side of the back board and posts, and some lessor worming to all interior surfaces; common for its age. The lock on the left door locks from behind with a hook; the bolt apparently was not made to slide. Sturdy and strong, with recently waxed patina.
