A Dutch oak longcase clock, the dial and movement by “Daniel Soos, Amsterdam”, circa 1730, with apertures for the moon, date, day of the week (spelled out and another with the day’s astrological symbol).  The dial engraved along the edges, and with brass spandrels representing the four seasons of the year.  Alarm disk in the center of the dial controlling an alarm mechanism on the right side of the movement.  Dutch striking on two bells, striking on the hour and half-hour.
 
The South Netherlandish oak case with applied carved molding on the door and plinth, with fretwork on the hood, circa late 18th century.  The size and shape of the dial perfectly matched the hood door.
 
Height 91”, width 21”, depth 10”.
 
Condition. The movement is clean and appears to be complete and in good condition, including the alarm (but the position of the bell needs slight adjusting to align with the alarm hammer).  In an overnight test, the movement ran without stopping.  (General note: All clock movements have been examined, and any faults noticed have been described. However, the functionality of any movement cannot be guaranteed.  Please inquire and refer to photographs as an additional part of the condition report.)  The case is in good, sturdy condition, with minor scratches and imperfections commensurate with age.  Working door key.
