A fine Dutch marquetry musical longcase clock with automata in the arch, by Adam Heymuys; the movement circa 1760, the case circa 1720 with later modifications.
 
The substantial movement striking the hour on a large bell and a smaller bell on the half-hour, and playing 14 tunes on 14 bells, employing 28 hammers.  In the arch is the tune selection above an automata painted scene of a maiden strumming a harp in a paradise garden surrounded with wild animals, her arm moving when a tune is played.  In the center of the dial are apertures for the phases and age of the moon, the date, the month, and the day of the week.  The movement has a pull-repeat lever to re-sound the last half-hour strike.  In the corners of the dial are four painted figures (a Roman centurion, a Turkish nobleman, and American Indian chief, and an African king).  The walnut and marquetry case is from circa 1720, with the hood substantially modified in recent times to fit this dial. 
 
Adam Heymuys is recorded in the book, “De Nederlandse Staande Klock”, by J. Zeeman, as known to have worked in 1729, and having died in 1766.  He is also recorded in the book, Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World, by Brian Loomes, as a clockmaker working in Amsterdam circa 1760.

Condition of movement: The movement is clean and appears complete and in excellent condition (but has not been tested and cannot be guaranteed).  The dial retains its original artwork with no restorations, and is in excellent condition for its age.  The hands are finely cut and appear original. 
 
Condition of case:  The case in general is in poor condition, with some molding and marquetry missing, and some marquetry has been filled with putty.  The dome, the arch in the hood, and the fretwork in the arch, are later alterations, and the back of the trunk has a cut-out for the music barrel to extend into.
